Ariel

This Southern California native grew up at the beach and in the sunshine. Always a lover of storytelling, photography was the perfect way to explore stories. With a BFA in Photography from the crazy-esteemed ArtCenter College of Design, Ariel set out to photograph love! When she isn't working, Ariel loves to explore, by traveling locally and abroad, she tries to get out of the country at least once a year and loves to hike local trails. When home, Ariel is an avid baker, her specialty being cakes and cookies.

Who is the person that most embodies "style"?

with what fictional character do you most identify?

Georgia O'Keeffe, the painter and sometimes photographer, she had an understated sophisticated style that was modern yet southwestern, but really she let her art speak for her, which is what I love most about her style.

I think of myself as a mix of Anne of Green Gables’ bright happiness and optimism, Daria’s sarcastic humor, and Leslie Knope’s go get ‘em attitude.

what is your most prized possession?

When I was 13, I was gifted a Minolta 35mm camera for a photography class, with my aunt’s name engraved into it by my grandpa. The camera lead me to where I am today, but has family history too.

IN WHAT HISTORICAL PERIOD WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO HAVE LIVED?

I would have loved to have lived in the Wild West in the 1880s - be able to go into big cities and experience Victorian life but to also be able to head into the west, exploring the new country. I would have wanted to owned a traveling camera studio, and take portraits and landscapes of the ever evolving America of the time.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE LA HANGOUT(S)?

When I’m not photographing a wedding, my favorite day is getting brunch in Long Beach at Berlin, the best cafe in the Arts District and then heading up to LA to either check out the newest exhibit at LACMA or MOCA and then getting tacos and (more) coffee in the Warehouse District in Downtown LA and then ending the day walking at sunset along the beach in Long Beach with my boyfriend.

what if I told you that you could travel anywhere right now?

I would book a trip instantly to France! I would love to wander lavender fields, bask in the sunshine in the Riviera, and browse all the bookstores and ateliers in Paris. I would happily live off of brie cheese, champagne and brioche. Seeing Versailles and Monet’s gardens would be an absolute dream come true!
