Carly has the laid back vibe of a Californian with the hustle of a New Yorker. Her hugs are legendary and she gets shit done. She loves bright colors, huge roller coasters, and perfect hi5s. She photographed her first wedding in 2009 and loves it more and more each year. She lives in sunny LA with her partner and a snaggletooth street cat named Penny. Speaking of bright colors, check out her own vibrant Brooklyn wedding here! When she's not photographing humans in love, you can find her scuba diving with squid, making art in a Nevada desert, or right here in LA discovering the magic in gold spray paint, smoke bombs, and googly eyes 😍
Iris Apfel! She’s never found a brightly colored accessory she didn’t love. Clothing is an extension of her personality, and she wears it boldly and without apologies.
1) Half Brienne of Tarth: she’s a great judge of character, fiercely brave, and forever willing to go to the ends of the earth to help the ones she loves.
2) Half Lisa Simpson: she finds great joy in learning, is unafraid to speak her mind, and loves adventures.
Photo booth strips that are scattered throughout my house. When I was living in New York, there were only two proper photo booths left in the city. The ones that only printed black and white images, on light sensitive paper, leaving your fingers smelling like sulfur. Real life happens in the smallest moment. Those photo strips remind me to slow down, pay attention, and find fun in every day.
Right now! I am constantly floored by the wonders of the world we live in now. Want to visit another continent? Hop on a plane. Need to have gallbladder surgery? Have some anesthetic. Want to help a community in need halfway across the world? Contact them personally. We have the privilege to stand on the shoulders of giants, and we have a lot of work to do.
Gorgeous, up-on-a-hill Griffith Observatory is one of my favorite spots, especially at sunset or during an astrological event. Dawn or dusk the views are incredible, and a squadron of volunteer scientists await you to explain the cosmos. Six Flags is also high on my list! Roller coasters are one of my greatest sources of unbridled happiness (and giggles).
I would pack my dive computer and go to Southern India and the Maldives. Southern India is saturated with color in their festivals, markets, temples and people. Gorging myself on the utterly delicious food, I’d like to meet as many people as I could along the way. The trip would end with a liveaboard in the Maldives – scuba diving at all times of the day and night. Nothing makes me feel more apart of this world like floating in the ocean.
Besides penicillin, this is perhaps the best medicine on earth.
A good remedy for any problem.
