This one was full of heart. M & B’s wedding at Trentadue Winery in Geyserville had that kind of easy, elegant energy that comes when two people are just wildly in love and ready to celebrate it with everyone they care about. As a Sonoma wedding photographer, days like this are such a reminder of what makes this job so meaningful: capturing love stories that feel real, joyful, and totally authentic.
From the start, M & B were so clear on what mattered most. In their words, “We are smitten with each other and are so grateful to our friends and family who have loved and supported us up to and throughout this place in our journey. We would like our love for each other and our people to be captured in a celebratory way.” That energy came through in every part of the day 🙂
M had two emotional first looks, one with her dad and another with her brothers. Both were full of love and meaning. She saved her first look with B for the aisle, and when he saw her walk in, the whole place lit up. You could feel the emotion ripple through the crowd. This is the kind of moment we treasure as Bay Area documentary wedding photographers… real, raw, and unscripted.
They chose Trentadue because of how beautiful and diverse the property is. Redwood groves, vineyards, open lawns, a breezy grape arbor… it offers so many settings in one place. M said, “We knew we wanted the venue to shine, that’s why we chose it, for its natural beauty and diversity of the various locations within. We wanted the florals and decor to really just supplement a bit.”
It worked perfectly. Everything felt intentional and low-key gorgeous, with just enough detail to highlight what was already there. For wedding photographers in Sonoma, it’s a dream backdrop that invites timeless imagery without feeling overly styled.
One of the most unexpected and sweet moments of the day: M & B tied the rings under a random guest’s chair and surprised them during the ceremony by asking them to bring the rings up. Everyone got such a kick out of it. The parasols added a pretty and practical touch, keeping guests cool under the summer sun.
Off the Beaten Path Weddings planned and designed the day, and it was such a joy (as always) working with their team. Their approach aligned beautifully with our style of documentary wedding photography… calm, connected, and totally personal.
Off the Beaten Path also handled the catering, bringing their seasonal, farm-to-table style to the table. Dinner was served under the grapevine arbor in that classic wine country way—generous, relaxed, and full of flavor. There were toasts, happy tears, and that kind of golden-hour magic that makes Sonoma weddings so unforgettable. As wedding photographers in the Bay Area, this kind of setting gives us so much beauty to work with in a natural, unforced way.
M said, “For the overall vision, it was really about leaning into the beauty of the venue and the natural landscape, from the vines to the redwoods. If anything, maybe with a slight bent toward a bit of Italian villa look and feel.”
The combination of their styling, the venue, and their easy connection came together to create something that felt timeless, personal, and beautifully effortless.
M & B had a bit of a height difference, which is something we’re super comfortable working with. We always approach things with a blend of relaxed direction and natural movement so nothing ever feels awkward or overly posed. Our focus is always on real connection, flattering angles, and creating a flow that keeps everyone feeling confident and at ease.
M shared this helpful wisdom:
“Determine the thing or couple of things you want to build your wedding theme and vision around as early as possible. From there, all the decisions that you didn’t even know you’d have to make along the way have a through line you can fall back on. You will get overwhelmed, but if you know the core aesthetic you’re building around, those decisions can be made a little quicker and a little easier.”
And this is something we always need reminding:
“At the end of the day, remember that you’re the only one who’s seen your Pinterest board. Some of the little things might not happen exactly as you’d planned, but your guests will still love the day because it’s about you and your love, not the shape of the dinner plate.”
