Old Hollywood glamour, a vintage Rolls-Royce, a little Grace Kelly energy, and a whole lot of black tie in San Francisco. This Julia Morgan Ballroom wedding was giving us ALL of it.
The whole day had this timeless, almost cinematic feel. A traditional church ceremony in North Beach, portraits through downtown San Francisco, and then an incredible reception inside one of the city’s most gorgeous historic ballrooms. And the fashion. The FASHION.

First up, Saints Peter and Paul Church in North Beach. If you’ve ever been inside this church, you know. The soaring ceilings, ornate white altar, gold details, and that long red aisle. It’s stunning.
A strapless satin ballgown with an enormous bow in the back (obsessed), a long veil, an all-white bouquet, and a white dinner jacket with a black bow tie. The wedding party wore black, keeping everything super classic.
We photographed the ceremony from all different angles, including that amazing overhead view of the aisle.
And after the ceremony, we got everyone outside for some really fun wedding party photos on those grand church steps before we made our way downtown.
The vintage white Rolls-Royce was iconic, and felt like we were going back in time with all the black-tie fashion, and we had the best time photographing it before heading toward the Julia Morgan Ballroom. I am here to say that San Francisco is BACK. Trust me, the city is alive right now… you can feel it.
We mixed a few more editorial, Vogue-style portraits with the real stuff. Walking down the street, laughing together, sneaking in a kiss. Nothing too stiff or overly posed.
We also photographed some of the portraits on film, which of course was the perfect vibe for this vintage feel:

And then there was the reception.
The Julia Morgan Ballroom has this gorgeous old-world atmosphere with dark wood paneling, dramatic ceilings, chandeliers, and warm lighting. Basically everything you want for an Old Hollywood-inspired wedding. White flowers, crisp linens, dark chairs, candlelight. They kept the decor really classic and let the ballroom do its thing.
We got in before the guests to photograph all the details, and then caught the couple seeing the room for the first time. After allll the months of envisioning and planning, when you can see it for your own eyes, it’s a bit of an out-of-body experience…!
And the best part was how quickly the night turned into a PARTY. The Lucky Devil’s Band got things going, and the dance floor filled up almost immediately.
There were some hilarious speeches, a few teary moments, and SO much dancing. Exactly the kind of stuff we love photographing because nobody’s thinking about the camera anymore.
And then… the reception dress change of our DREAMS. A shorter white dress, hair down, and a whole different energy for the rest of the night. OBSESSED.
If you’re dreaming of a Julia Morgan Ballroom wedding with a little Old Hollywood glamour, we’d love to photograph it!
We love mixing documentary-style wedding photography with a bit of editorial direction, especially in a city like San Francisco where the architecture is practically begging for photos.
We’ll help with the pretty portraits, find all those fun little locations, and then let you get back to your people while we photograph the actual party.
