Emily

Emily is a firm believer in going after your dreams and taking chances. She made her dreams a reality beginning in high school as she decided to become a photographer. Her camera is the extension of her eyes and heart. She is honest and genuine, and makes her imagery just the same way. This adorable yogi-gardener lives in Santa Rosa but is a beach bum! You'll find her by the ocean at any chance she can get.

WHAT IS YOUR AREA OF PERFECT HAPPINESS?

85 degrees, sun on my skin, toes in the sand, and a crystal clear beach just steps away. As much as I love being on a beach, I might love being IN the ocean more. It's honestly a whole different world down there. It's quiet and peaceful, but vast and unknown that the same time. Even though I'm deathly afraid of sharks, it's still my area of perfect of happiness.

IN WHAT HISTORICAL PERIOD WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO HAVE LIVED?

I love the time I live in now. But if I had to choose, maybe the 60’s? I’m a true hippie at heart.  I have really curly hair, so I think I'd fit in with the crazy big hair styles too!

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE SANTA ROSA HANGOUT(S)?

Slice of Life is a restaurant I frequent way too often. Local, organic, and clean food, what could be better? Retrograde Coffee Roasters is another favorite. They have some of the best coffee, treats, and little bites to eat. Their shop is very retro and a perfect spot to do a little photo editing!  I also love spending time walking or hiking our many beautiful parks...Riverfront Regional, Foothill, Annadel, or Spring Lake.

WHERE DO YOU FEEL MOST INSPIRED?

Adventuring outdoors…whether it’s walking in the rain or snorkeling in a tropical ocean. Nature is incredibly inspiring and makes me realize how small I really am. I didn't always used to feel inspired with adventuring, all the uncertainties made me nervous. But someone once told me that you can never cross the ocean if you don't have the courage to lose sight of the shore. I started out with a couple travel adventures, Thailand, Maui, Mexico, Yosemite and never looked back. Getting out of your comfort zone will change you and inspire you. I promise, it did for me.

WHAT IF I TOLD YOU THAT YOU COULD TRAVEL ANYWHERE RIGHT NOW?

The Maldives - hands down! It’s been on my bucket list for so long! You know those private condos that are out on the end of a dock in the middle of the ocean? And your floor is transparent so you can watch fish and baby sharks swim below you? With a water slide that goes from your room right into the ocean? Yep. That's the place. Someone take me there now!

Go-tos

YOGA

It's my escape from reality. 5 days a week, I practice power yoga to music in a heated room!

OCEAN

I'll escape to the ocean anytime I get a chance. I don't know who I'd be without salt water & an ocean breeze. It's very humbling and centering when you spend time on/in/by the ocean.

TRAVELINg

I've discovered my love for traveling the past few years. I have a bucket list a mile long, so any chance I get, I'm off to another adventure!

GARDENING

I live on property and have a garden the size of a 1/4 acre! There is nothing like growing your own food from seed. One of my favorite things about having such a large garden is sharing with family & friends! I'll bring you produce anytime you ask! ;)

COOKING

I'm a foodie at heart and just love spending time in the kitchen cooking and experimenting with new food. Fun fact, I've been a vegan for a almost 7 years!

Chocolate

It's something I have on the daily. A habit I can't break - just a little bit each day. But they say it's good for you right? :)
